Jasmine ritual to attract a calm and gentle love

Jasmine opens its flowers at dusk and scents the night with a sweet, peaceful fragrance, which is why many Mediterranean and Eastern traditions link it to calm love, tenderness and dreams. This ritual does not try to attract a specific person or change anyone’s will: it helps you get clear about the kind of love you want to live, what you give and what you need to receive, so that you can recognise a healthy relationship when it arrives or care better for the one you already have.

When to do it

On a Friday, the day of Venus, or during the waxing moon, at dusk, when jasmine releases its scent. Choose a time without rushing and without screens.

What you need

  • A handful of dried jasmine flowers (from a herbalist) or a fresh sprig of common jasmine (Jasminum)
  • A small white candle in a stable holder
  • A small glass jar with a lid
  • A sheet of paper and a pen
  • A candle snuffer or a teaspoon

Step by step

  1. Place the candle in its holder on a stable, heat-proof surface, away from curtains and paper, and scatter the jasmine flowers a hand’s width away. Light the candle and slowly breathe in the scent three times.
  2. Divide the sheet into three parts and write: three things you offer in love, three things you need to receive and one boundary you no longer want to give up.
  3. Read what you wrote softly and finish with: “I open myself to a calm love that cares for me and that I care for.”
  4. Fold the sheet, put it in the jar and cover it with the jasmine flowers. Close the lid.
  5. Put the candle out with the snuffer or the teaspoon, without blowing. Keep the jar on your bedside table and, for seven nights, open it for a moment before sleeping, smell the jasmine and repeat the phrase.

Safety first

Never leave a lit candle unattended. Place it in a stable, heat-resistant holder away from curtains, paper, children and pets, and put it out with a snuffer.

These rituals are symbolic. Do not ingest herbs or oils, ventilate the room when burning incense or herbs, and never perform a ritual to harm or control anyone.

To finish

After the seven nights, keep the sheet in a special book and return the flowers to the soil of a plant pot. Never leave the candle burning unattended or within reach of children or pets. Use common jasmine and do not confuse it with so-called yellow or Carolina jasmine (Gelsemium), which is toxic; the flowers are for the ritual only and are not to be eaten. To keep growing tenderness, pair it with the vanilla ritual.
